Here We Go – Again

Things have been very quiet here at Slow Bike Miami for some time now due to me being busy having started a new college degree. Summer has arrived, though, so it’s time to get on the bike and ride to our heart’s content.

Slow Bike Miami will be re-starting with semi-regular posts as of next week. I had thought of merging this with my regular blog (which you can find at, but I’ll keep them separate for now. If you want to know more about the other things I geek about, by all means feel free to drop by and see what I write about there.

Catch you here next week, and we’ll go riding together. Well, after I get a new seat for my bike. But I’ll say more about that later.

Update & New Bike

April 20, 2010 5 comments

Rumors of me giving up my bike are greatly exaggerated. 🙂

I’m around, but my first semester back in university has been very busy. On top of that, having had my bike stolen left me grounded for a few weeks, though that isn’t the case anymore. However, I have realized that I need to reduce the amount of projects I have going in order to better follow through with them.

In the very near future (read: as soon as I get some time from school), I will be migrating Slow Bike Miami from its own website into a consolidated part of my personal site, I’ve already directed readers there for the last two posts I made, so I might as well just make it official. By doing this, I can blog more easily about my bike adventures alongside my regular blog posts about all the other stuff I’m into.

If you arrive here by going to, that URL will redirect to the proper category on my blog. If you read this via the RSS feed, I will likewise redirect so you don’t miss anything. The disruption should be minimal, if all goes well.

And to make this more than just a newscast, let me introduce to you all my new bicycle, a metallic blue Electra Townie!

Electra Townie

Yes, I like Electras.  😉

We just finished moving and I am currently without internet service, at least until next week. If you follow me on Twitter at @Highmoon then you’ll hear from me more regularly. If not, I’ll be back once AT&T does their thing.

New Year, New Look, New Logo

September 18, 2009 2 comments

Tonight starts Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, and we’d like to extend a heartfelt shannah tova to all the Jews out there, especially our fellow Jewish cyclists.

To celebrate, I’ve changed the look of the website to a magazine-style theme. The main advantage of this new look is that it allows a lot more stories to be on the front page without overwhelming you, the reader. It makes things a lot more organized, and I, frankly, I like the look.

The other new addition is the Slow Bike Miami logo I created. I’ve no doubt I’ll keep playing with it for a while, but in general I quite like it. I’d like to make T-shirts with the logo so we can wear at bicycling events in Miami.

So, happy and sweet new year to those to which this is applicable. To everyone else, have a great weekend and I hope you like the new site look and the logo.

We’re Now

August 27, 2009 2 comments

Short, sweet and to the point: we have a new URL –

The truth is we bike all around Miami, even if we live in Miami Beach, so it makes sense to expand our scope to the entity that is Miami (including all the cities). The new URL should make it easy for people to find us; it also makes it easy for us to promote it, so expect to see a few things coming down the pike in that regard.

So, let others know, it’s now Slow Bike Miami at, and we’re still all about Style over Speed, and 100% Lycra-free.

I’m a Metblogger for Miami

November 19, 2008 Leave a comment

I have joined Metblogs, a network of city-focused blogs for a number of metropolitan areas around the world. My friend Patricia is a contributor for the Seattle Metblogs and that kinda gave me the impetus to do the same in my own city. Given how the Miami Metblogs was downright suffering for lack of content (the last non-news post was in March 08) I decided this would be a great way for me to connect more with my hometown and a way to talk about the city aside from the topic of cycling, which I already cover in my Slow Bike Miami Beach blog (though I also expect to cover some cycling stuff on Metblogs as well).

So drop by Miami Metblogs and check out whatever I end up writing about there (and hopefully we’ll have more contributors joining up soon as well). You can check out my Author Profile page which includes links to articles written by me, or go to the front page and see what’s going on.
